We recommend some fun outdoor places to you. Many of us feel close to God when we are immersed in the creation.

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is located within San Diego city limits and yet remains one of the wildest stretches of land on our Southern California coast! Here you’ll find beautiful hikes, sand cliffs, wildflowers and amazing ocean views.  There is a $10 entrance fee to the park, but it’s well worth it.

The Anza Borrego Desert

About an hour and one-half east of San Diego is the beautiful Anza Borrego Desert. In the spring the desert is often spectacular, full of wild flowers, blooming cactus and birds. Visit before Easter or you’ll smoke. It gets hot in the summer!

Julian

Visit the small mountain town of Julian an hour east of San Diego in the Cuyamaca mountains. Gold rush history, shops in historic buildings, B&B’s, famous apple pies , hikes, picnics amid oaks and pines

The San Diego Zoo

It’s a world famous zoo, home to over 4,000 rare and endangered animals representing more than 800 species and subspecies, and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 exotic plants. It is located just north of downtown San Diego in Balboa Park.

La Jolla Shores and cove

This is one of the really pretty and fun beaches in San Diego County.  It is a great swimming beach with kayaking along the cliffs and snorkeling in the cove. Go early in the summer, parking is crazy.

The Coronado Ferry Landing

At the “Ferry Landing,” in Coronado, there are shops, art galleries,  restaurants, fun eateries and one of the best skyline view of downtown San Diego.  Bring your lounge chairs, pick up some good Greek food at Spiro's Gyros, and sit on the grass facing the bay. There are bikes for rent, or you can bring your own and bike along the water front. Ride the ferry across to San Diego and back. It’s an affordable and fun way to get out on the water.

Cabrillo National Park

This is a special place, full of San Diego history, light houses, hikes and spectacular views of San Diego. You can tide pool here with your family. Just before you reach the Park, take the road to the right, down the hill to the old light house on the beach. Check the tides and go when they are low. Good stuff to be found.
